Address the Homelessness and Addiction Epidemics

“As a long-time member of our community, I am deeply concerned with the impact Seattle-area politics has had on our quality of life. Homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, suicide, divorce and spousal abuse are on the rise. The cost of living continues to increase leaving our seniors on fixed incomes suffering. Democrat imposed mandates and increased taxes are harming families and killing businesses. It is time for a change! As your advocate, I vow to bring your voice to Olympia to make a difference.”

“I believe you know how to spend your money better than the government does. Once elected I will be working to cut taxes and end needless government mandates. My opponent has continually voted to increase your B & O taxes, gas taxes and real estate taxes. Also he has repeatedly voted for state government mandated comprehensive sex-ed being taught for very young children beginning in kindergarten (Informed Parents of Washington). And in the 2020 legislative session is the individual who made the motion to move the bill out of committee (CSE Curriculum). This is not the right approach. I want to empower parents where and how their children are educated, emphasizing school choice.”

“School Choice is a practical solution to allow parents to be directly involved in how their children are educated at the local levels. The cost per student for our public schools is about $16,000 per student per year. I am advocating that parents receive $8,000 – $10,000 per child, allowing students to be educated in Home Schools, Private Schools, Trade Schools, Charter Schools, or Christian Schools. This would save taxpayers money and easily could be done with voucher programs. Also I would like to see other financial credits and/or scholarships to low-income, special needs and active duty military.”

“Government’s responsibility is to support the private sector through a minimal regulatory climate, locally driven planning and the encouragement of a general spirit of industry throughout all levels of society. As your representative I will be working towards the betterment of the residents of the 10th Legislative District by lowering and eliminating taxes, reducing and eliminating regulations and returning power back to you and the local governing districts.”

“I fully support the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. The base which includes Ault Field and OLF Coupeville, is one of the most important and strategic air commands in the United States. It is a necessary and vital economic driver that supports much of the citizens of Legislative District 10, and its economy. We must do all that we can to keep it in full operation, as it is paramount to the nation’s and the world’s safety.”

“Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are all part of our constitutional founding documents and are inextricably connected to an individual’s right to own private property. Government must compensate property owners at market value when their property rights are damaged, impaired or taken by government action. Water rights should stay with the landowner and not be transferred to state, tribal or federal ownership.”

“The proper role of any welfare, homeless, or addiction program is to be compassionate and innovative, with the goal of self-empowerment by helping people to help themselves. I support personal responsibility in securing a job, and helping those in need with effective treatment programs. We must be open to a variety of solutions and recognize that many private sector non-profits and community faith based organizations can be far more effective at helping people through challenging times than government programs.”

“Transparency is fundamental to our roles as public servants. If elected I will support legislation which seeks to permanently end the use of “Title Only Bills.” These are bills submitted without any actual legislative content, then at the last minute full verbiage is added, such as tax increases, etc.  This dishonest practice sifles public review and political debate. My opponent voted for several Title Only Bills, this is disrespectful to our district and state’s voters.”
